Gromit will meet him when we bring him home ... when the pups are young, it's better to limit their exposure to strange dogs, especially dogs like Gromit who have a lot of exposure to dog places (agility trials, Canine U, etc.). Puppies are extra vulnerable to certain doggy diseases, and whole litters can die overnight from parvo for example.
